Gender Mainstreaming Advisory Committee (GMAC)

The GMAC is a committee of research ethics and gender experts in 5 francophone and lusophone West African countries; the objective of which is to provide guidance to the BCA-WA-ETHICS team when it comes to the planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication and dissemination of project activities and outputs.

Prof. Mouhammed Djicó

Permanent Secretary, National Health Research Ethics Committee, Guinea-Bissau

Prof. Djicó has vast experience in the field of public health planning and cooperation, especially in the areas of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and Malaria. He is currently the Permanent Secretary of the Guinea-Bissau National Health Research Ethics Committee as well as of the Multisectoral Commission of the Fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. He is also one of the Associate Researchers at the Bandim Health Project, which aims to improve child survival rates in Guinea-Bissau through health and demographic surveillance and vaccine optimization. 

Mme Charlotte Ale

Gender Expert, National Health Research Ethics Committee, Benin

Madame Charlotte Ale is a Social Anthropologist with expertise in the following disciplines: Gender and development and the implementation and evaluation of development programs and projects. She has been a member of the National Health ResearchEthics Committee in Benin since 2018, serving as the designated gender expert of the committee.
